Praying For Israel

Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem
“for he who touches you,
touches the
apple of His eye.” Zec.2:8

THE CHRISTIAN is one who is to be plainly seen, and yet his life is hidden; he is a man in the world, but not a man of the world; he converses with other men, and yet his conversation is in heaven.
He is one who lives to die, and dies to live; yet he is dead while he lives, and lives when he dies.
He is one who lives in another, and for another; he seeks not himself when he aims most at his own good; God is his all, and his all is God; he aims at no end but the glory of God, of which there is no end.
by C. H. Spurgeon

Why Pray For Israel?

1. Israel is still the apple of God's eye and His inheritance, close to His heart (Psa.148:14; Zech.2:8; Deut.32:8-11; Rom.11:29; Psa.33:11-12)

2. God's faithful servants are moved to prayer and compassion over Israel's condition (Psa.102:13-17)

3. God commands us to give Him and ourselves no rest until He establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth (Isa.62:1,6-7)

4. God wants to give us the desire, anguish and gift of travailing prayer for Israel's salvation (Rom.9:2-3; 10:1, 14)

5. God commands us to seek the spiritual and physical good of the Israeli people and to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psa.122:4,6-9; Rom.15:25-27; 1:16; 2:9-11)

6. The Jewish people's acceptance of Messiah Jesus (Yeshua) will lead to life from the dead — world-wide revival of unprecedented magnitude (Rom.11:15; Acts 3:19-21)

7. Yeshua linked His second coming to Israel's national turning to Him (Matt.23:39)

Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem
“for he who touches you,
touches the
apple of His eye.” Zec.2:8

“On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen; All day and all night they will never keep silent. You who remind the LORD, take no rest for yourselves; And give Him no rest until He establishes And makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” Is.62:6-7

Jerusalem, Israel's capital (population 657,500), has stood at the center of the Jewish people's national and spiritual life since King David made it the capital of his kingdom some 3000 years ago. Today it is the seat of the government and Israel's largest city.
With 3,000 years of history behind it, Jerusalem is now thrust to the center of the Arab-Israeli conflict.

The epicenter of the conflict lies in Jerusalem and more specifically on the Temple Mount in the Old City. The Jews of Israel are locked in a conflict with their Palestinian Arab neighbors.

Although the Temple hasn't stood for almost 2,000 years, Jerusalem continues to be the focus of the Jewish world. The Temple may not be there, but Jews believe that the intrinsic holiness of the site always remains.

In fact, Jerusalem's Temple Mount is one of the most revered and contested pieces of land in the world. Moslems call the site Hareem al-Sharef. It's where the Al Aqsa mosque and the Dome of the Rock are located. To Jews, it is the place where Kings Solomon and Herod built the first and second Temples: the holiest place in the Jewish religion. Jewish tradition also maintains that in the End of Days, during the Messianic Era, a third and final Temple will be built on Mount Moriah.

“ But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God’s throne; nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King”.Matt. 5:34-35

"The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you , And give you peace." Num. 6:24-26

“...for he who touches you, touches the apple of His eye.”Zec.2:8

"If I forget you, O Jerusalem,
may my right hand forget its skill.
May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth
if I do not remember you,
If I do not consider Jerusalem
my highest joy."
-Psalm 137:5-6

The Lord will not forsake His people for His great name’s sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make Israel His people. -1 Samuel 12:22

7 REASONS WHY WE SHOULD PRAY FOR ISRAEL FIRST

1 God has not finished with Israel ……..

Has God cast away His people ? Certainly not ! God has not rejected His people whom He fore-knew (Rom 11:1 - 2)

Again I shall rebuild you and you shall be rebuilt, O virgin of Israel (Jeremiah 31:3)

The gifts and callings of God are irrevocable … (Rom 11:29)

2 The Word of God commands us to … Pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6)

You who call upon the name of the Lord, give Him no rest until He establishes Jerusalem as a praise in all the Earth (Isaiah 62:6 – 7)

Let the priests who minister to the Lord, weep between the porch and the alter; let them cry out “spare you people of Lord” (Joel 2:17 )

3 The Church has a continuing upon the past, present and future of Israel
Remember that it is not you who supports the root, but the root supports you (Rom 11:17)
Whom are Israelites, to whom pertain the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving

of the law, the service of God, and the promises; of whom are the fathers and from

whom, according to the flesh, Christ came …… (Rom 9:4- 5)

4 The Gentiles have benefited from the Jewish people’s fall ...

Through their trespass, salvation has come to the Gentiles (Rom 11:11)

If their falling away was riches for the world, what will their reconciling be, but life from the dead (Rom 11:15)

5 God loves Israel – If we have His love and His Spirit, shouldn’t we ?

Israel …. I have loved you with an everlasting love (Jer 31:3

They are beloved for the sake of the fathers ….. ( Rom 11:28)

Whoever touches you, touches the apple of His eye ….. (Zech 2:8)

6 Yeshua’s return to take up His 1000 yr reign is dependant on Israel’s salvation.

That He may send Yeshua, whom Heaven is restraining until the time of restoration of all things, as spoken by God, through the mouth of His holy prophets. (Acts 3:21)

You won’t see me again until you say “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord” (Matt 23:39)

Behold He is coming on the clouds and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. (Rev 1:7)

7 You will be blessed if you bless the Jewish people - I will bless those who bless you ….. (Gen 12:3)
It is your duty to help the Jewish people …. It pleased them indeed, and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister to them in material things. (Rom 15:27)
